Candida Brain Fog

unreal feeling/dreamlike feeling??
I am pretty sure I have candida, and I am having this almost constant feeling of being in a dreamlike state, or unreal, or like a real far away feeling in my head. It is a terrible feeling... also kind of like smoking some bad pot, where you feel like you are in another world. Does anyone else here experience this feeling with their candida problem?? I need to know because it is a very distressing thing for me, and I would be delighted to know that maybe I can clear it up if I get the candida under control. Please let me know.

DEFINITELY.
All the time.

Its less bad now that I'm starting to get on the right track.. :)

Thanks for letting me know I am not alone with this brain fog feeling. Yes, I would like to email you and find out what you are doing, and maybe just to discuss other symptoms and ideas as to what works to get rid of the candida, and what might not help. Thank you again :-) Handsdown, the unreal/dreamlike feeling is the worst symptom of the candida I have ever experienced, and it just started this year, although I know I've had candida for much longer.

That was the symptom that nearly put me over the edge. My brain fog/spaciness had gotten so bad I couldn't even hold a conversation on the phone or in person. This led to panic attacks at grocery stores etc. Anyway, I am now free of that symptom. Get on the candida diet and stay there!!!

Thank you for the reply... I had some more questions for you... when you had the brain fog, was it a lot like how I described my feeling... like feeling unreal and in an awful dreamlike state? You said that you had spaciness... but I am not sure what your spaciness felt like, since some people say spaciness is a feeling of having a poor memory or inability to collect your thoughts... but although I do have some memory stuff going on, that is entirely different than the dreamlike/unreal/far away feeling. Did you also feel like you were in a dream? Also, what supplements did you take in addition to the diet, and how long did it take for your awful brain fog feeling to go away? I need to know, because I am having a horrible time with this feeling... along with a bunch of other symptoms. Thank you so much.

Yes, yes, yes, I had the dreamlike/unreal feelings. It was awful. I call it spaciness, but it's the same thing. I know exactly what you are talking about. You will hear differing opinions on this board, but here is what has worked for me.

I typed "candida diet" into a search engine and started immediately following the strictest version I could find. If I had stayed on the strict version from the start, I feel I wouldn't have wasted so much time.

Speaking of wasting time. IMO supplements and anti-fungals did more harm than good in the long run. The two most important things that have helped me regain my health about 75% are diet and cultured vegetables. (thanks to Tove)

Start researching and good luck. p.s. I noticed huge improvements after just three weeks on the diet.

Can you give instructions on how to make the cultured vegetables?

Someone answered...
I've been buying it by the boatload, but it's getting expensive for me, so I'm going to try and make my own next month. I will post and let you know if it worked.

ah right, i want to try and make my own cultured vegetables aswell, im just a little bit worried about doing it wrong and getting food poisoning ;)

yes get on the diet first, its the most important thing in the beginning, you will feel better on the diet, but just be aware that although symptoms may ease off initially, they could get very much worse (for a short time) before they get SIGNIFICANTLY better, and you are feeling yourself again. this worse period is called yeast die-off. for me, like brett it was around the 3rd week of the diet, then in the 4th week i felt fantastic, after the yeast toxins were out of my system (although everyone is different and the timescales can vary from person to person, so use it as a rough guide). also i totally get where brett's coming from when he says he wishes he'd been very strict on the diet from the start, i was strict at the beginning and the change in feeling/reality was amazing (after going through the die-off ofcourse), and its that feeling which has kept me going for a long time. but also remember lillacoix it is very difficult to go from a normal diet to an anticandida diet all at once (especially when a person first gets candida and the body is sensitive to candida toxins), so if you cannot stay on the strict diet dont get down about it, there are other strategys to try, like reducing carbs *slowly* over 4-8 weeks which while it might be slightly longer, very much increase your chances of staying on the diet and feeling good at the end of it (because die-off and toxins are released over weeks and are easier to handle, unlike the strict diet where there is a massive rush of toxins into the system all at once, also there are low blood sugar issues which may make you crave carbs). good luck with it :)

thanks for your response to my questions. Do you have any recommendations for low carb diet books and candida diet books that you like or used? How long have you been on the candida diet? Are most of your symptoms gone now? Are you just on a maintenance candida diet? I suppose it's wise to stick to some semblance of the diet for life, even after the candida is cleared, to ensure health and that the candida does not come back.

i dont have any cook books, i eat very simple meals of potatos, vegetables and meat/fish (no sauces or butter etc, just a little salt) the potatos and fat from the meat really helps to satisfy my appetite. i think ill be on this diet for life now, ive had enough of feeling the way i used to when i ate processed food.

Mind if I jump in here? I wouldn't waste your money on books when all the information you need is free online. I made the mistake of buying alot of books that had bad advice in them. I would research "candida diet" and weed out the sites that are trying to sell you something. Learn about what foods candida thrives on and stop eating those!! It's really that simple. Then, start eating cultured vegetables everyday. This helped me more than anything.
