Avacado Sugar

avocados Hey there, this is getting frustrating, trying to figure out how much sugar is in an avocado. So, I typed "sugar content of avocados" into a search engine and came up with contradicting info. Some sights say they are high in sugar, but it's a good sugar, others say it's low in sugar. I did find a site that would back up the "low in sugar" claim. I did buy one today, but I am still leary of them helping candida.

Avocardos have less than 3g sugar per 100g.

I am so sorry you have such a hard time incorporating foods into your diet. That must be incredibly frustrating. I continue to be amazed at how we are all so differet in what works for us. Like, you can do all those cultured veggies, and I have such a hard time with them (but plan to try again, because as I am recovering, I am able to tolerate more and more things). I recently went to see my candida doc. He was glad I had not seen him in a year and a half because he said the direction I went in on my own clearly was helping me, but it was not a direction he would have gone in. C'est la vie!

Do you think your problem with avacados might relate to the high fat content? if your digestion is weak, chances are you can't break it down, which would lead to fermentation and toxins regardless of sugar content....

Maybe a cross reaction? Folks reactive to latex can be sensitive to avocado.

It's possible. I guess I have to re-evaluate my thoughts about avocados. I've never tested them in a food elmimantion type process before. I used to use them in blender drinks with soy milk, which may have been the problem.

My caloric intake requirements are so high on a daily basis, food elemination is a real pain for me. Sometimes it's just a guessing game which foods cause me trouble.

One thing that really helped me pin things down w/o doing an elimination diet was keeping a food journal. I would write down the contents of my meals, then afterwards I would write any symptoms I felt immediately after, a few hours after and the next morning. I would compare ingredients from meal to meal, and would be able to isolate problematic foods if (for example) I ate a salad one day and felt fine and ate a salad the next day and felt horrid, I coudl see, OH, I didn't have walnuts on it the first day. Stuff like that.

o.k., here's the deal. I really don't have bad reactions to foods, but I have a delayed reaction when the food I ate has fed the yeast. This is not so easy to determine because the yeast grows back slowly over days and before I know it, I'm sick and my skin looks bad. THEN, I have the fun of going thru a week of de-tox, which I'm doing now.

As long as I don't screw up too much, I do o.k.

Glad to hear you are finding answers. Can you eat any of the forbidden foods I miss so much? Chips, pizza, cereal, milk?

What you are describing sounds alot like a food intolerance. same thing was happening to me when I ate cabbage. I know its not a yeast issue because it can't feed yeast, and I eat foods that would feed yeast, and they don't.

a food intolerance reaction can result is "burns" on the skin, and numerous other weird issues... honestly. muscle testing, though not 100% accurate, can be a big help with the right tester....

I used to have food intolerance to nuts, casein and a couple of others, but this is definatly a yeast thing. I admit to being guilty eating things lately that I should have known better, such as potato chips and "Rice Cream" But the thing that really caused this latest breakout was the Kombucha tea by GT's. I am just about 100% sure they're label is incorrect in the amount of sugar they claim it contains. Once again, I have learned a tough lesson.

Oh, my goodness, that sounds like no fun. :( It would seem to me addressing leaky gut would help that, but you know your body best.

I really have no idea about the things you mentioned, except for natural organic potato chips which seem fine. I am one of those people who don't plan on going back on a "regular" diet. I can eat yogurt now, so maybe I could drink milk too if I tried. As for cereal, I can eat oatmal, but don't plan on trying any dry cold cereals. Bread - it will be a very long time before I give that a try, and when I do it will be one of those alternative health food store ones. I am off processed bread forever!

Have you ever tried French Meadow's Bakery spelt bread and bagels? I can eat those with no problem and it really makes this diet so much better.

Thanks. Actually I prefer to be basically grain free, except for some rice here and there. I don't do too well with them for other reasons (type 1 diabetes). But, my diet is fairly unlimited in other areas, so I don't find it a problem. I have good variety of foods I can eat.
