Asthema Die-Off
On top of my candidas I got cutaneous Leishmaniosis during a trip to the Mexican rain forest. By chance, this particular species of Leishmania (a protozoa not a fungus)is killed with Fluconazole. So I am killing my candidas as well, with doctoral prescription, just by chance!
After 10 days taking 200mg of fluconzole I am feeling great, I can think very clearly and work all day without a problem.
I got blurred vision for a couple of days by I am less spaced out than before.
However, my asthma has gone really bad. I had to be in the hospital on cortisone all afternoon the other day.
My question... does asthma get worse with die-off? If so, should I expect to get over it soon?
Oh, yeah! I have told the story many times of my asthmatic reaction to die off. At its worst, I would wake up in the middle of the night every night for a month, coughing and gasping for breath. I would be wheezing and could barely get in enough air not to pass out. I would go into the bathroom so as not to disturb my husband, and sit on the edge fo the toilet, taking puff after puff of my albuterol rescue inhaler, like 15 puffs, all the while this bright white foam (candida) spewing out of my lungs. It would be 45 minutes of this before I was able to breathe well enough to go back to sleep. This might happen up to 3 times a night. Yes, it does get better! I barely feel my asthma these days.
Candida can infest the lungs, which I would bet you dollars to donuts is what gave me asthma in the first place.
agree.. i had asthma for almost two decades and haven't had any trouble since kicking my candida about 5-6 years ago
i probably had low grade chronic candida most of my life since i was always on abx
Are you off of all asthma meds as well?
Yup, been entirely free of all meds for almost four years.
For the record though, my asthma may have not been quite as severe as others here. Usually I just needed albuterol with certain kinds of exercise or respiratory infections.. once in a great while I would have a spontaneous attack. But when my candida got really severe (4+ CDSA) I got pretty wheezy in my breathing, to the point where my co workers could all hear it. So at that point my doc prescribed a daily steroid inhaler.
I'm aware though that some folks can be on like six different inhalers, so can appreciate if others find it a tougher struggle -- mycoplasma or various parasites or things might also be contributing to someone's condition, in addition to the candida...
But I seriously had the worst allergies EVER known to man and have gotten off all those steroids, antihistamines, decongestants, and shots too.
I also have beaten, btw - inflammatory arthritis, fibromyalgia, autoimmune activity, hellish pms, polycystic ovaries, and a pretty long and serious history with carpal/tarsal tunnel syndrome.
So while I'm very aware that we are all different, I do believe there is hope for everyone that this kind of stuff can go away.
My God, that is horrible. I'm so sorry you went through that..I was scared just reading it, I don't think I would have handled that well. Yikes!
I believe your story! Absolutely this does happen!
Just a warning which you probably know already, but taking too many of puffs of albuterol can stop your heart. Be careful. It's tough though. Do I take this so I can breath and risk my heart stopping or do I not take this and then stop breathing?
Yikes! I did not know that, but on the other hand, can't say it surprises me. I will keep that in mind. I don't need it anywhere near as much as I used to, TG. Thanks.
You must be aware that 2 puffs is the script limit!! Art Bell's wife(late night talk show host) died from hyperinflated lungs. She was doing exactly what you did!! puff puff puff. Yikes!!
By the way, my allergist told me that that these inhalers were inhaled ephedra. Why don't you just take that like I do when I get in extreme trouble? Please???
Wow! Well, I guess I just never knew/considered it. It was only during that time of extreme die off that I needed so much of it - I simply would have suffocated those nights w/o it. Have never seen inhaled ephedra. Ephedra has its own problems tho, right? I mean, it is pretty much banned I thought (in US - are you outside US? Unless I am wrong about the banning - but I haveheard stories of it being implicated in deaths and that is why it was taken out of diet aids here)Where does one get inhaled ephedra?
Thanks for your concern! I appreciate it.
The prescribed inhalers are inhaled ephedra. You can still buy ephedra but have to search online for it. The people that died from it overused it...didn't follow the recommended dose. I believe the ban was put in place as kind of a test. Ephedra has saved me many trips to the emergency room.....And possibly, my life.
My doctor(allergist) told me it was inhaled ephedra. He asked me what I did when I had a bad asthma attack and I told him I took ephedra. He was not alarmed and told me that the inhalers were ephedra.
