Anti-Fungals Dry My Skin

Why Do Anti-Fungals Dry My Skin?
Whenever I take anti-fungals which is all the time my skin looks like an alligator's! Last night I had to take an extra Plant Tanalbit as my sinuses were messed up and this morning I had so many deep lines I looked like I was 10 years older. Does anyone else have this problem? What supplements do you take for it?

Hi, don't try to find a supplement to counteract the anti-fungals. Lay off the anti-fungals, or greatly reduce the amount.

This sounds like another overloaded liver symptom. Get off the antifungals and do lots of liver support and colonics. That is what I would do anyway. My skin dries out and I look 10 years older than normal (and who needs THAT!) when my liver is overloaded, too.

lower abdomin pain??
I started on Nizoral recently and I'm having this excruciating pain in my lower abdominal area around my pelvic. It's a burning, aching, stinging sensation... I know it's a die off symptom but I just wondered if any of you women have experienced this kind of pain in the pelvic area. I feel like my ovaries are being strangled, and pulled or something.. I'm also bloated like a balloon. I'm getting a lot of discharge and a strong doughy smell from the vaginal yeast...
I've never had children yet and am fearful that this problem is going to effect my chances of having them. My ovary area, or female parts hurt soooooo incredibly bad it brings me to tears sometimes...

candida and antifungals
I had a similar experience with nizerol. It helped alot at first but then I started getting alot of the brain symptoms you are describing. I dont know why that happens. I suspect that the candida either gets resistant and you have a reaction to the meds or that your liver is taxed I am not sure at all. What got me thru that was to stop the nizerol and switch to natural antifungals. I started with yeasts fighter and then switched to garlic, biotin and some probioitcs which are basically in the forumla but you can kind of play around with the amounts. It helped me .

Thanks, I've been taking naturals and they are helping but at a much slower rate. I'm almost 8 months into this (I know in candida terms thats not a long time) and I'm just getting frustrated. How much Biotin do you take? I just picked up some today to try. Also, are you over the infection and how long did it take? Thanks again and take care.
If anyone can help...
I was on a round ( 7 days ) of antibiotics: ciproflaxin and doxycyclone, for 7 days at the end of which I got what my doctor and thought was oral thrush. No cultures have been taken.

I have been on Nystatin for 20 days, clortrimazole for 14 days, and then currently diflucan (100mg/day) for seven days. And it hasn't gone away. I have been tested for HIV and Diabetes (both Neg.). I have been been on the candidia diet since starting clortrimazole 3 weeks ago. But again the thrush is still there.

Has anyone else had these same problems?? If so, how did you get past it??

Really I am totally unqualified to respond on a forum full of totally smart and well-versed people, but I tend to think you just need more time. The diet and meds/anti-fungals are usually recommended for three months. If it is that stubborn, maybe it is elsewhere in your system?? If you look in the archives, there will be posts about people's experiences with non-script anti-fungals. I have taken grapefruit seed extract, oil of oregano and p'au d'arco before. I can't isolate anyone of them as a cure per se but they could help. The yeast may need to be hit with something else. Some people suggest that you should rotate anti-fungs every four days... Hope this is of some use and that you are still checking for responses down there! The screen fills up fast around here!!

I've done Nystatin rectally and vaginally. It is the one product that has worked the best for me, but I don't seem to be able to stay off of it long term. Although lately I have been into carbs and chocolate big time and know I have to stop.

I do agree that cleansing is important and I have done bunches of it, including colonics. I also had high ferritin levels and gave blood to bring them down to normal range, since iron can feed candida and bacteria. It seemed better for a while.

Now my dr. is thinking I'm low on iodine and I did a test last week and am awaiting the results. People short on iodine may not be able to kill off enough bacteria, virus, fungus, etc, plus it can lead to undiagnosed hypothyroidism. What I'm getting at, is I think we all have different reasons for being where we are today. Some of them overlap, but others are totally individual. I love hearing so many different stories and it gives me hope that one day everything will click together...for all of us!!

I read somewhere that you have to rotate the natural antifungals or else the fungus will grow immune to it. And I read that you must drink chlorine-free water for the probiotics to be effective.

l also heard that we should rotate our treatments because candida can adapt to the treatment..about the water l for 1 dont trust the store bought water there is so much controversity about this l have a filter on my kitchen sink after l get my water from then l boil it for 10 mins. and store in glass container just as an old oliver oil bottle l use glass because sooner or later if you use plastic this will start getting in the water you stored..l read that its good to boil water then l ran across another book that said not to because you boil all the minerials out..l perfer to boil l just take supplements to replace whats in the water hope this helps.

l forgot to mention l was told by an herbalist that chlorine water kills bateria good and bad so l tend to believe in drinking safe water.

Amphotericin B was my favorite anti-fungal. It worked the best, but my dr. never wants to keep me on anything long enough. It drives me crazy. He says no one should be on antigungals the rest of their lives. I agree, but then there's that thing called "quality of life". The IV ampho is dangerous, but the oral is supposed to be one of the safer drugs, right up there with Nystatin. Although Nystatin has caused some people problems by changing the form of the yeast into other more virulent, hard to treat strains. It always seems to work for me, but I do take other non-prescription products with it.

As for leaving out the amphotericin. It is probably ok unless it was pretty hot in your house. One time they forgot to send my Nystatin overnight on ice and it seemed to be ok. That was in the winter though.

I have been using Lamisil tablets for 4 weeks and Threelac for about 2 weeks and it seems to be working. I have recently introduced another probiotic on and off to help. Also I have been eating more often - maybe 4 or 5 times a day which has warded off any hunger pains which I had before that caused a lot of flatulence. Hoooray!!! I feel as though I am more than half way to recovery!!!! Everyone - you have to be patient it takes a long time before you get any decent results so stick to the diet!
