Which antibiotic?
I'd like to know which antibiotic is best to use if I need to take one. I've been having a problem with my sinuses, cold and allergies, and have some pain in my face. I hope I can clear this on my own but if I do need an antibiotic which would do the least harm to me.I am so scared of taking any as I have gone off the wall in the past when I took any.
Thanks to all...... :(
Most sinus is caused by fungus, not by bacteria.
Two recommendations:
- Try to find a product called Xlear. It is at health food stores. It worked marvelously well for me.
- Try mixing warm water with a tiny bit of salt. Put it into a syringe or something that will allow you to inhale it. Over the sink, gently and slowly inhale it and then gently blow out through your nose. This will clear at lost of the mucus.
My problem wasn't the same as yours ... I had an ear infection for which I seriously considered taking antibiotics. I decided against it and successfully treated myself with the following for a week:
4 cloves of raw garlic a day (crushed, with food), (an antifungal with some antibiotic properties), and Bio-K.
This remedy worked in clearing the bacterial infection.
I would be very, very sure (ie. get tested) that you need an antibiotic before you take one. Sinus issues are almost always fungal in nature, and antibiotics would not help that and in fact make it worse. If your doc says something like , "try these and see if they help" w/o testing to make sure you have a BACTERIAL infection, run!
You are so knowledgeable!
What would one take for a supposed sinus infection besides antibiotics?
How are they fungal in nature?
Thanks for any info.
Hi, not sure if I am "that" knowledgeable, lol! But, thanks. :) I have been at this a while.
For sinus, I would recommend something like Xlear. You can get it at Whole Foods, or online, or perhaps your local health food store carries it. It is a nasal spray that contains Xylitol, a natural antifungal. If you are treating a candida infection with antifungals, you are already treating your sinus infection, and the Xlear will give you some "spot" help. Another thing that helps me when sinuses act up is sinus irrigation. Get yorself a neti pot or naso cup (2 names for the same thing). If your health food store does not carry them, you can often get one at a yoga studio or place that sells yoga supplies. Or, you can certainly get one online. They cost about $15. They look like a miniature Aladin's lamp. You put warm water in it, add some non-iodized sea salt (1/4 tsp.) and you tilt your head over the sink and pour the water gently in one nostril, and it comes out the other one. I add soem xylitol to mine sometimes. The salt prevents burning feeling. If sinuses are extra sensitive, you might feel some initial burn, but then subsequent irrigations should feel better and better.
Antibiotics just scare the heck out of me. I have been using the Xlear about 3 x daily, warm compresses and gargling with salted water. In addition to this do you think I should be irrigating with salted water? I was doing this before I started the Xlear . Let me know what you think.
I would, and I would add powedered golden seal to the water. {It will burn}.
Check out Garden Of Life's Seasonal Relief. It's a great product full of antibiotic herbs. It has really helped me in the past!
I don't blame you about ABX, they scare me too. I am pretty sure that having about 24 rounds of ABX before I hit my teen years set me up for this candida crapola. When my sinuses were bothering me, I did both. But, the truth of the matter is that healing of your sinuses will follow healing of your body in general. The sinuses are simply a manifestation of a body-wide issue, and these things (Xlear and irrigation) "help" but in and of themselves will not cure.
try homeopathic it worked for me when antibiotics did not. "sinus" by bioforce works or kali bichromicom or see a good homeopath
Try Probiotics, in particular Lactobactilus Sporogenes has been shown to be effective anternative to antibiotics in animals.
